Women in the Bible - Jochebed (Exodus 2)

Historical Insight
Jochebed lived during a time of great oppression when Pharaoh ordered the killing of all Hebrew baby boys. Her decision to hide Moses for three months and later entrust him to God’s care in the Nile demonstrates her deep faith and courage. Her act preserved the life of the man who would lead Israel out of Egypt.

Jochebed teaches us the importance of trusting God with what we hold most dear, even when it means letting go and relying on His protection. Her courage and faith remind us that God’s plan is greater than our fears, and He is always watching over those we entrust to Him.
Exodus 2:9
"'Take this baby and nurse him for me,' the princess told the baby’s mother. 'I will pay you for your help.' So the woman took her baby home and nursed him." - God’s providence is evident as Jochebed is reunited with Moses and given the chance to care for him. Her faith was rewarded, reminding us of God’s care and ability to work things out for our good.
