Women in the Bible - Hannah (1 Samuel 1 & 2)

Historical Insight

In Hannah’s time, a woman’s identity and social standing were often closely tied to her ability to bear children. Hannah’s years of infertility brought deep personal and social pain, yet she found strength in prayer. Her story reveals a powerful truth: God sees and values us beyond our societal roles or limitations.

Learn From Her

We can learn from Hannah to bring our deepest desires and struggles before God in prayer, trusting that He hears us even in our most vulnerable moments. Hannah also teaches us to honour God with our blessings, offering gratitude and commitment to Him even after our prayers are answered. Even in the toughest of times, turn to prayer!

1 Samuel 1:27-28

"I asked the Lord to give me this boy, and he has granted my request. Now I am giving him to the Lord, and he will belong to the Lord his whole life.” And they worshiped the Lord there. - Hannah’s willingness to dedicate her son Samuel to God shows her deep faith and commitment to honouring God, even when it meant giving up something she desired so dearly.
